The anime series, produced by Studio MAPPA and based on Gege Akutami’s manga of the same name, has taken fans by storm with its second season to date, with its incredible animations and heart-wrenching story about its past. YouTube channel Toho Animation has released a trailer, which offers cryptic hints about the events of the Shibuya Incident and which characters will be participating. Unlike the previous installment and the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie, it looks like this sequel will take place in the present and feature many famous returning characters such as the main trio Yuji, Megumi and Nobara as well as other major witches like Nanami and Gojo. All of this is an extremely welcome change of pace from the last installment. While it would have been nice to learn more about Gojo’s past and see why Geto became the villain Jujutsu Kaisen despite being a hero at first, fans missed the chance to see the characters. the main protagonist of the series. The end of Gojo’s past reveals that these characters are returning to the main focus of the story, as they appear to tease Gojo after he awakens from his memories. But it would be nice for fans to see more of them, especially after the events they went through at the end of season 1. Given the dense amount of battles shown in the trailer, all of these characters will likely have the opportunity to further hone their combat skills in the upcoming installment.
The hype caused by this trailer has only increased as manga readers have repeatedly praised the Shibuya incident since its release. Some have even called it one of the best Shonen arcs of all time, comparable to Hunter x Hunter’s Chimera Ant arc. Given the interest that Studio MAPPA seems to be giving the part, it could easily reach such heights in the anime community as well. Even if its story becomes boring, the beautiful animation shown in the first season of Season 2 is sure to make this a visual spectacle in the best way.
If Jujutsu Kaisen hits the hype, this will be the best Anime of the year
Fans have been waiting for the Shibuya Incident to be animated for years, but the trailer makes it look like the wait will be well worth it. Before the new episodes premiere on August 31, MAPPA and Toho Animation are likely to roll out more trailers to further promote the plot.
