Jujutsu Kaisen: Not all of Megumi Fushiguro’s shikigami are equal in the Ten Shadows Technique.
Jujutsu Kaisen is an anime series that explores the world of cursed spirits and the brave magicians fighting against them. One of these magicians is Megumi Fushiguro, a first-year student at Jujutsu High School. Although Megumi is only a level 2 sorcerer, he has the potential to become as powerful as his mentor, Satoru Gojo, who is probably the strongest mage alive.
Not only possessing extraordinary physical abilities, Megumi also has a huge amount of curse energy. He manipulates his cursed energy using the Ten Shadows Technique to summon various shikigami. All of Megumi’s shikigami are powerful alone, but they can also transform and combine to create far more powerful entities.
7. Rabbit Escape
Megumi can summon dozens of rabbits by making a rabbit shadow puppet. As seen in the battle with Jiro Awasaka, the rabbits surround the enemy, temporarily overpowering him and cutting off vision. Rabbit Escape is not a battle-oriented shikigami, but a distraction to escape or find the right time to attack. The rabbits themselves are not very strong and can therefore be defeated without much effort. Megumi also exploited Rabbit Escape when dueling Toji Fushiguro, but it didn’t really have much effect against such a strong opponent. This Ten Shadows technique has yet to be seen in the anime.
6. Toad
The Toad Shikigami is summoned through Megumi’s hand shadow puppet. While the summoner himself admits that Toad is relatively fragile, it is certain that it can be used in a supporting role — or alongside other shikigami available to Megumi. The toad can catch and knock down opponents using its flexible tongue, just like a real toad captures its prey. Furthermore, Megumi frequently uses Toad to protect herself and her friends, especially when they need to avoid impending attacks. Toads are also well-suited to search and rescue missions in conjunction with Divine Dogs. Enemies often underestimate this seemingly innocuous shikigami and end up suffering the consequences.
5. Max Elephant
Max Elephant needs quite a bit of cursed energy to appear, which is why Megumi only brings out this shikigami when absolutely necessary. Furthermore, Max Elephant’s physical ‘body’ does not appear immediately, leaving Megumi at risk of enemy damage. Elephant Max takes the form of a pink elephant with markings all over its body. While fans initially assumed the shikigami would rely solely on brute force attacks, Max Elephant also spews a powerful jet of water through its nozzle, washing away any enemies in its vicinity. That said, Max Elephant’s massive size came in handy when Megumi fought Awasaka, who was surprised when the shikigami suddenly appeared above him.
4. Nue
Nue has the form of a giant bird with an extremely strange mask and a set of humanoid teeth. This shikigami is one of the fastest entities in JJK, not to mention its respectable load-carrying capacity. Megumi depends on Nue for many reasons—it can bring him and his friends to safety, attack opponents in Megumi’s stead, or even provide a feathered barrier against attacks. . If that’s not impressive enough, Megumi is able to fuse Nue and Toad, a technique known as The Well’s Unknown Abyss. This allows toads to fly, although it makes them significantly weaker than actual Toad shikigami. Nue has come close to death many times, but its continued survival is testament to this shikigami’s ability to endure.
3. Great Serpent
Arguably the largest shikigami Megumi wielded, the Great Serpent was unfortunately defeated by Sukuna. This shikigami may never appear in the series again, but its achievements are still remarkable. One of the Great Serpent’s best features is its quick summoning time, with virtually no lag between Megumi’s hand movements and the manifesting shikigami. As useful as it is, the Great Serpent’s greatest asset must be its curse-breaking skill. While other shikigami are technically capable of nullifying the curse as well, the Great Serpent’s speed and strength make it a deadly addition to Megumi’s arsenal. Maybe it will come back as a merge someday.
2. Divine Dogs
Introduced in the first chapter and episode of Jujutsu Kaisen, Divine Dogs are two identical wolves – one black, the other white. This pair of shikigami works like regular tracking hounds, which is why they can easily locate their targets just by scent. These two shikigami are always summoned together, at least until the white version is slaughtered by a special level cursed spirit. However, fans were delighted to discover that the white dog isn’t actually dead and that it can be summoned as a fusion with its twin. Known as Divine Dog: Totality, this technique presents an extremely dangerous black and white wolf that is powerful enough to deal damage to strong opponents like Hanami.
1. Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga
Megumi’s most powerful Shikigami, the Sila Eight-Handed Sword God General Mahoraga gets its name from a type of divine entity in Japanese Buddhism. Mahoraga is the most versatile of the Ten Shadow Magic, as it can easily adjust its behavior based on its environment. In other words, attacking Mahoraga with a specific method guarantees that it will never work again. This shikigami carries a sword known as the Sword of Destruction, a construction designed to exorcise or destroy curses and cursed souls. In addition, Mahoraga’s physical strength is beyond question, explaining why there is no one worthy of controlling this shikigami yet.
