Kanye West recently debuted on TikTok and after just a few days went viral with his first video mixed with his own music.
The popular male rapper joined social media app TikTok over the weekend, setting up a verified account with his nickname, “Ye.” He posted his first video on September 18, much to the delight of his fans.
The nearly 3-minute clip shows Kanye sitting in a car, while songs from his 2019 album Jesus Is King are playing on speakers, including ‘Selah’, ‘Closed on Sunday’ and ‘ God Is’.
The video has garnered more than 711,000 views and 176,000 likes, while Kanye’s TikTok account has just over 221,000 followers. The male rapper himself has yet to follow anyone and his profile picture is still a simple black background like the cover photo of Ye’s recently released album – Donda
Thousands of fans took to the comments section to express their joy at the rap icon joining TikTok.
“This has made my day better. Welcome to TikTok, hope you post more! ” one fan commented. Another wrote: “The GOAT is here.” “Yeezy season is approaching,” a third fan shared.
The rapper’s TikTok debut has been significantly underestimated, considering the history of his controversial posts on social media.
Last month, Kanye criticized Pete Davidson on Instagram, by sharing a newspaper description with the headline: “Skete Davidson dies at 28.”
