Kodoani.com – Netflix announced on Wednesday that the second season of the anime adaptation of the manga Kengan Ashura by Yabako Sandrovich will premiere on Netflix in September. The company also revealed an image:
Netflix will distribute the sequel worldwide.
The sequel will cover the finale of the Kengan Destruction Tournament and the end of the original story.
The anime premiered on Netflix globally in July 2019. The second season of the anime, consisting of episodes 13 through 24, debuted on Netflix in October of that year.
The anime made its world premiere at Anime Expo in July 2018. The manga won a fan vote contest in 2015 to receive an adaptation.
Seiji Kishi is directing the anime at Larx Entertainment. Makoto Uezu is writing the series, and Kazuaki Morita is designing the characters. Team-MAX’s Yasuharu Takanashi is composing the music. MY FIRST STORY performed “King & Ashley.” Hip hop group BAD HOP performed the anime’s ending theme song “Born This Way”.
Sandrovich launched Kengan Ashura with illustrations by Daromeon in the Manga ONE app in 2012 and ended the series in August 2018, but a new season debuted in the Manga ONE app in January 2019.
In the manga’s story, businesses and merchants place large sums of money to hire warriors for unarmed hand-to-hand combat. The winner will take it all in these kengan competitions that date back to the Edo period. Traders used battles as a means of settling disputes with each other. The powerful and mysterious Ōma Tokita, nicknamed Ashura, participates in these battles. Nogi Corporation Chairman Hideki Nogi kept his ambitions secret when he met Ashura. Events begin to revolve around Kengan battles when Ashura enters the fight.
