The latest gameplay trailer for Kirby’s Dream Buffet on Nintendo Switch has revealed that the game will launch on August 17.
Nintendo revealed the release date of Kirby’s Dream Buffet in its latest trailer, and the date comes a lot earlier than expected. Kirby’s Dream Buffet is a Nintendo Switch franchise that focuses on multiplayer gameplay, as Kirby was shrunk by the Dream Fork and had to eat desserts to his liking.
Kirby’s Dream Buffet will have three different game modes: Race, Minigame and Battle Royale. The race consists of rolling through levels and eating as many strawberries as possible while using duplication to defeat enemies and get as much food as possible. Finish with multiple platters of strawberries, so the top player has the edge, as the winner of each race is Kirby who eats the most strawberries. Minigames also involve chewing strawberries, but these matches take place in pre-existing arenas and have most opportunities for players to fight each other over food. Battle Royale also involves arena battles, but can knock enemies off the stage and steal their strawberries, this mode is more about offensive strategy.
Kirby’s Dream Buffet (starring Smash Bros.) was announced in July with a “summer 2022” release date. It turns out that the game is closer to completion than you might initially think. A new trailer on Nintendo’s official YouTube channel has announced that Kirby’s Dream Buffet will be released for the Nintendo Switch on August 17.
There’s also a side function for strawberries in addition to satisfying Kirby’s hunger. Rewards can be unlocked by spending strawberries outside of the match. These relate to the costumes and colors for the various Kirbys, some reminiscent of the Fall Guys character’s costume customization options, as well as the Character Treats which are platforms where Kirby characters can be used as the starting point at the start of the match. The more strawberries a player eats, the more levels there will be in all modes, so you’ll need to do that if you want to unlock everything.
Kirby’s Dream Buffet also features various multiplayer options, split-screen coop with two Joy-Cons, four-player local coop with multiple Nintendo Switches, and even online multiplayer, which requires a Nintendo Switch Online registration. The Nintendo Switch has no shortage of party games, especially now that Fall Guys is on the system, but Kirby’s Dream Buffet looks set to be fun. Kirby’s Dream Buffet launches next week, so fans won’t have to wait long until they get to enjoy strawberries with their friends.
