After winning the LCK Summer 2023 LCK play-off 3-1 against DK, Faker and T1 are gradually regaining their confidence to win tickets to the 2023 LPL “revenge” Worlds.
The 3-1 victory over DK at the 2023 LCK Summer Split play-off is an extremely important step to lift T1 up both in spirit and on the way to the 2023 World Championship ticket and the LCK cup. After this match, Faker and interim head coach Tom shared a lot about Faker’s return to the game as well as what happened internally when Faker took a break.
One of the reasons DK lost was because they were weak themselves. DK is still in crisis when they still don’t know how to win against big teams. DK’s macros and teamfights are down significantly compared to their previous seasons. Along with constantly changing supports, the DK members often made silly mistakes that led to difficult games for the team even though they had a lot of lead before the opponent.
Although Faker can’t overwhelm ShowMaker in lane and is often the target of Canyon’s visits, the Demon King is the Demon King, Faker always knows how to shine when his teammates need it.
Despite the victory, Faker constantly reflected on himself: “During the first ganks of the opponent, I was defeated and lost gold/exp because of bad handling. That was disappointing. And I think the reason we played better and were able to win was because of the concentration in the mid to late game. We did better than DK and maybe you can see that too.”
Besides, Faker also shared that he is getting used to changing his game posture so as not to get injured again. This made it impossible for him to reach 100% of his strength, but he had to if he didn’t want to rest for a long time.
Faker also said that with what T1 is doing, the championship is not far away: “My personal goal is to improve my performance. Judging from our performance, I think the title is not far away. Winning the title in the summer is possible. Winning the championship is the best thing, but in order to do that, we need to improve a little bit more.”
One of Faker’s goals is to be able to go to Worlds 2023 to meet JDG again and avenge the LPL teams because of the bad memories of the past. Of course, to do that, both Faker and T1 will have to work a lot harder. The first is that they need to do well in the upcoming match against KT.
