LCS: Team Academy is a place to ‘retirement’ for many veteran players

It is a rare fact that the LCS Team Academy is a stopover for many players who are still passionate about League of Legends.

Recently, the LCS has recorded many players returning to stick with their old teammates, but in the Academy lineup. Names like WildTurtle, Hauntzer, ADD, Svenskeren and some other older players are playing at LCS Academy.

The first cause of this situation is that the players have dropped so much that it is difficult to compete with other players in the same position.

Besides, the LCS region is tending to recruit foreign players, especially players from Korea. The reason for this trend is that the young talent of the LCS does not have enough development environment to create confidence in the teams. The most obvious example of this is the fact that Jensen, Bjergsen, Doublelift after a season of rest as a coach, streamer, and then returned to professional competition.

Another reason why veteran players of the LCS accepted to play at the Academy when this is also the time when they are waiting to return to the LCS if the competition is stable or a certain team can buy them back. Or they simply need a place to work, stick to their passion and have a stable income.

Regardless of the reason, this situation shows a harsh truth, showing that many veteran players are now “aged” but still have love for LoL and stick with the competition, but is not respected.
