After a period of “rebellion” in Gnar’s Top lane, the VCS players found Irelia to confront Gnar.
From patch 12.10, when all champions were able to withstand the “buff” to rampage “Endless Fight”, the “squirrel” Gnar became the top pick in the Top lane in most tournaments. However, not to let this situation last forever, the “first-class battle” area VCS gave the countermeasure as “sword dancing girl” Irelia.
“Ancient Link” Gnar, who benefits the most in the tank meta, both damage and resistance have become too “OP”. It’s not surprising that Gnar is “monopolizing” the top lane completely with an almost 100% pick rate in major tournaments like the LCK, LPL, or even VCS.
With the damage as a percentage of health of “Insult” (W) in Mini form, and the amount of movement speed increased, Gnar easily “kite” other enemy champions without losing any health. The special ability increases the fury of the passive, helps Gnar become “chaos”, greatly increases the amount of health, armor and magic resistance, and a huge amount of control from GNAR (R).
“Swordmaster Dancer” Irelia, although unpopular in the meta, she is still a very difficult “counterweight” in the Top lane. After many “hammering” updates, Irelia became the stepchild of every tournament, when no one was confident enough to choose Irelia. But to confront Gnar, the VCS area confirmed that it could only be Irelia.
With “Sword Stab” (Q) combined with “Universal Leap” (E), Irelia can completely destroy the “beast” Gnar very early. Along with that, the ability to heal from “Ionian Will” and “Unknown Sword” makes it very difficult for Gnar to poke in Mini form. Not only that, with the “Pioneer Sword”, Vu sword can completely stir up the entire fight and bring advantages to his teammates.
So why is Irelia trusted by the VCS region to counter Gnar?
Irelia’s very early mutation:
“Ionian female swordsman” is known as a champion that requires “superior” skills, in the Irelia – Gnar match, despite the disadvantage of attack range, the ability to “hang on” from “Sword Stab” (Q ) is always a big plus for her.
With 4 passive active points, Hiro easily ignores minions, performs “Universal Leap” (E) to stun Gnar and “Sword Stab” close. The bonus attack speed and damage make it impossible for Nper to calculate and lie down despite losing Flash.
As a Gladiator but also an Assassin:
Just “Sword of the Unknown King”, Irelia blatantly became an Assassin. With the combo “Pioneer Sword” and “Universal Leap” giving her 2 free “Smashing” times, the amount of unexpected shock damage at a time is huge.
With an advantage over people, SE decided to “bait” her Irelia to rush. But it seems that SE has underestimated this girl, with two “Sword Stabs”, Celebrity immediately turned white and lay down without having time to deal any damage.
Gnar can’t “remove” when he lost to Irelia:
Once she was ahead of her opponent, Irelia became completely overwhelming compared to Gnar. There isn’t any chance for Gnar to “dare” to farm minions while in Mini Gnar form.
As long as “Pioneer Sword” (R) succeeds, “Sword Master Vu” can send the “mischievous squirrel” immediately to the count board without spending any blood.
Irelia is the strongest opponent for Gnar, however, she needs a great deal of “mastery” because she possesses a series of skills that are considered to be the hardest in League of Legends. Not only that, you have to know how to adjust the beat appropriately, only hitting when Gnar is in Tiny form to easily get kills.
And once mastered, “squirrel” Gnar will hardly survive before the blade of “Dance Sword Master” Irelia.
