Riot Games has announced its newest champion for League of Legends, a character that may have been revealed eight years ago.
Kodoani.com – League of Legends has evolved from a single successful MOBA into a broader multimedia universe. However, even as League of Legends releases many spin-offs, TV shows, etc., Riot continues to strongly support the original game with new content. The newest addition to League of Legends has just been revealed. Introducing a new character, Bel’Veth, a Void monster shaped like a mantis that will fit into the role of a League of Legends jungler.
Bel’Veth was revealed recently with a cinematic trailer. In the trailer, Kai’S, who ventured into the Void’s heart in previous trailers, encounters a strange woman. The woman says that she is “everything that the Void has consumed”, and beyond that, she plans to devour the whole world. Suffice it to say that Kai’Sa didn’t make a good first impression and attacked Bel’Veth. Bel’Veth fights back, and after restraining Kai’Sa transforms from what appears to be a cloaked woman into a giant manta ray-shaped Void.
Further lore details released by Riot confirm that Bel’Veth is indeed a harbinger of the hunger of the Void, but there’s more to it. She was born after the Void devoured a city and gained consciousness through the shared lives of the people the Void ate. Instead of aligning with the Void Watchers, ancestors of the modern Voidborn, Bel’Veth sought to consume the world for her own ends. She calls the world of her own making the Lavender Sea.
While Bel’Veth’s abilities are yet to be confirmed, several gameplay clips have been shown of her in action. For starters, Riot has called Bel’Veth a human/monster hybrid, but all of her gameplay so far shows her in her “manta ray” form. In this form, she automatically attacks in melee range with her “wings”. Her ability then looks like a short dash that can be used multiple times, a series of frontal attacks, frontal AOE and an ultimate that can transport Bel’Veth for a short distance. and deal the same damage as Galio. There is also a passive passive, but its utility is unclear.
One funny thing about Bel’Veth is that a League of Legends manta ray figure was revealed 8 years ago. Trailers were included in the splash visuals for Battlecast Vel’Koz, as well as the graphics used for Battlecast Viktor.
The League of Legends community has become familiar with Bel’Veth. The mobility of Bel’Veth also makes her an attractive jungler when competing in the high ranks. A release date for Bel’Veth is yet to be confirmed, but expect news in the near future.
