The champions of Spring 2023 will not be very happy with Riot’s new update, because a series of champions will be nerfed, including many hot names.
Besides the domestic tournaments, the two international tournaments MSI and the World Championship are the most desirable destinations for League of Legends players. In terms of size and prize value, these tournaments may not be “measured” for some regions, but the noble title and the chance to compete is the dream that the players aim for.

If in previous seasons, the MSI organizers only selected the champions of the Spring tournaments, this year, the Major teams (LCK, LPL, LEC and LCS) will be able to have two representatives. . This is not the whole but renewal of the season. Because recently, Riot has revealed about the upcoming 13.7 update.
Accordingly, a series of generals will be nerfed, including very popular names in Spring 2023 such as Wukong, Vi, Sejuani, Veigar, Zeri, Annie. Alistar, after a period of heavy use in early Spring, is now also inferior to other more versatile supports like Lulu, Nautilus or Yuumi. Meanwhile, only Azir and Kalista are really used champions on the buff list.

It is worth noting that these changes are completely different from the version that the leagues are applying. Not to mention, only used in MSI 2023 and will change when the Summer season officially starts. The community thinks that the updated version for MSI 2023 may “destroy” all participating teams. This also raises concerns, even though they have won the Spring Split, it will be difficult for the players to keep up with the new meta.
This is not the first time this has happened. Before that, there was an MSI champion who competed in the Summer immediately after that was very bad, typically Royal Never Give Up. What teams can do now is just practice more to adapt as quickly as possible.
