The official website for Tokyo Revengers 2, the two sequels to the live-action film based on Ken Wakui’s Tokyo Revengers manga, began posting a new video on Wednesday. The video reveals three new actors for the films, and also reveals opening dates for April 21 and June 30.
New cast members include:
Kento Nagayama as Keisuke Baji (left in the image above) Nijirō Murakami as Kazutora Hanemiya (center) Mahiro Takasugi as Chifuyu Matsuno
The first Chi no Halloween -Unmei- (Bloody Halloween -Fate-) sequel will hit theaters on April 21, while the second Chi no Halloween -Kessen- (Bloody Halloween -Decisive Battle-) sequel will hit theaters on April 21. June 30.
Takumi Kitamura will return to play the role of Takemichi Hanagaki in the sequel. Other returning cast members include Ryō Yoshizawa as Mikey and Yuki Yamada as Draken. Director Tsutomu Hanabusa and producer Shota Okada will also return.
The first film premiered in Japan in July 2021 and is the No. 1 live-action film in Japan in 2021.
Wakui launched the manga in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in March 2017. Kodansha published the manga’s 30th volume on November 17. The manga ended on November 16, though. Weekly Shōnen magazine is serializing the Tokyo Revengers Extra spinoff manga about the founders of Tokyo Manji Gang.
Publisher Kodansha USA is publishing the manga in English and describes the story as follows:
While watching the news, Takemichi Hanagaki learns that his girlfriend since middle school, Hinata Tachibana, has passed away. The only girlfriend he’s ever had has just been killed by a group of criminals known as the Tokyo Manji Gang. He lives in a dingy apartment with flimsy walls, and his boss six years younger than him treats him like an idiot. Plus, he’s a complete virgin and experienced… At the height of his life at the bottom of the cliff, he suddenly went back in time twelve years back to his middle school days!! In order to save Hinata, and change the life he’s lived through while on the run, hopeless part-timer Takemichi must aim for the head of Kanto’s most evil crime gang!!
A television anime adaptation of the manga premiered in April 2021. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan. The anime’s Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown arc premiered on January 7.
