Kodoani.com – The following has spoilers for Episode 8 of Lycoris Recoil.
Another day, another dollar, and another episode of Lycoris Recoil. Well, maybe not a dollar. As it turns out, LycoReco is losing money. Chisato is also being targeted by Yoshimatsu for a reason that has yet to be revealed, although the end of the episode has a few hints as to what it could be. We also learn more about Majima’s role in the Tower Tower incident.
Lycoris Recoil tells the story of a legendary Lycoris named Chisato, and Inoue, her apprentice trainee. Chisato’s laziness and morals question everything Inoue learned growing up on the Lycoris show, prompting her to question everything she knows. Meanwhile, warring organizations battle each other with Chisato in a crossfire, and Chisato’s mysterious, forgotten past becomes increasingly questionable as viewers learn more about the infamous Radio Tower incident. language.
The episode opens at Yoshimatsu’s office. He is talking to Himegama, the guy’s assistant in the previous episodes, reminding her to be careful around Chisato. Himegama replied that “It depends on the situation”, and while she was explaining herself, Yoshimatsu interjected saying that he believes she can handle her. Just as Yoshimatsu starts commenting on his concerns about continuing to let her “play pretend,” the scene shifts to Chisato serving orders at LycoReco.
All the LycoReco employees realized that after Inoue did the math, Chisato appeared in the cafe. Between her free food and the exorbitant Lycoris costs, LycoReco is losing money. Inoue decided from then on she would be responsible for LycoReco’s expenses. After the theme song is played, we move on to the show with Chisato and Inoue on a mission, where Inoue is punishing Chisato for how much cleaning up after the damage would cost, and mentions that Chisato is using Using too many of his special bullets.
Returning to LycoReco a moment later, Inoue is chiding Mizuki for leaving the refrigerator open, saying it was a waste of electricity. She goes on to correct other employees at LycoReco about their habits that can cost the company money and obsess over any potential costs. Later, at a meeting, Chisato and Inoue have to threaten a group to pay them for disarming a bomb the group is trying to get money for.
Looks like Inoue’s methods are working. Inoue introduced a new item on the menu, which started selling quickly. In fact, it’s going viral on social media. This drives more and more customers to LycoReco; In fact, there were enough customers to make Kurumi finally help out at the cafe. In a rush, Chisato gets a call saying she’s missed her DA checkup again, and she says she’ll come in at another time. At the office where the physical exam takes place, it is revealed that Himegama is posing as a nurse, presumably for Yoshimatsu’s scheme.
Chisato and Inoue are currently doing a lot of Lycoris errands around town. After collecting money from small gigs, they returned to the cafe and discovered that LycoReco was making substantial profits again. To celebrate, they get an AI waiter to improve customer service. Inoue also decided to start investing in stocks with Kurumi. Once again, Chisato is called in to check on her health, but this time Inoue takes the phone call from Chisato and answers her, and forces Chisato to accept tomorrow for her physical examination.
Inoue discovered that someone online said that the new dish she developed looked like poop, literally, but it tasted delicious. Inoue was offended. As she expressed her confusion, Mizuki explained that that’s what people always think it looks like, and that’s exactly why it went viral. Inoue answers the phone to get out of the situation, and turns out to be Chisato’s doctor. She claims Chisato never came, but Inoue says she left specifically to take the exam.
The scene changes, showing Chisato being held hostage in her apartment with Majima, who is holding a gun to Chisato’s head. Chisato answers her phone, telling Inoue to pass it on to Chisato’s doctor that she will be late. After that, Chisato hung up the phone and talked to Majima. Majima asks Chisato if he remembers him, to which Chisato replies that he was referring to the events of a few episodes earlier. Majima hinted that he had met her a long time ago, and reminded her of the Tower Tower incident for which Chisato is famous.
We see young Majima, blindfolded but able to see where they will be attacked during the incident. Except for Chisato, of course. She was too fast for his senses. She is cold, and in the Tower Radio incident, she is killing people left and right. Back then, she was using live ammunition and taking lives, a stark contrast to her bubbly and pacifist attitude now.
Back in the present, Majima reveals the Alan Institute necklace. Chisato questions why he would do terrible things if he was a member of the same group, much to Majima’s confusion. Majima began to explain that the Alan Institute was not the organization Chisato had in mind. Majima left as soon as Inoue arrived, narrowly avoiding her.
Back at LycoReco, Chisato explains everything that happened while she was being held captive by Majima. While the group questioned her, Mika seemed lost in thought. Before Chisato could press any more, Inoue banged on the table and asked Chisato to answer all her phone calls within three rings so that if it took longer than that, Inoue would know she was in danger. That night, Chisato was outside LycoReco, polishing one of her guns.
Inoue went out to sit with Chisato. After idle chat, Chisato said that Yoshimatsu hadn’t stopped by since that day. To cheer Chisato up, Inoue gave her one of the gift bags Chisato had begged for earlier, when they gave out candy to the children. Inside the inventory is a dog charm, which Chisato puts right into her bag, while Inoue mentions the reason she’s working so hard is that she doesn’t want the cafe to close, referring to Chisato’s fact. how much i love it. After changing the subject, the two girls joked around with each other.
The next day, Chisato went for a medical check-up. Himegama was the one to shoot for her. After Chisato explains that she is afraid of being shot, she begins to lose her eyesight. Chisato was unconscious, with Himegama successfully able to ‘handle her carefully’ as she was instructed. At LycoReco, they realize Chisato still hasn’t arrived for her shift just as Himegama is about to perform surgery on Chisato’s unconscious body. Inoue tries to call, and since Chisato doesn’t answer, she assumes that Chisato is in danger again and prepares to go find her. Right before the episode ends, we see Yoshimatsu saying “It’s all your fault, Mika”.
This episode is by far the best. It’s the perfect blend of casual and action elements, even if the action is mostly plot until the very end. The stealth camera is also well done. Whether Inoue will make it to Chisato in time, will be seen in 2 days, in episode 9.
