Electronic Arts officially announced Madden NFL 23, confirming the soccer game’s release date with a trailer unveiling its FieldSENSE technology.
Kodoani.com – This past December, legendary football coach and commentator John Madden passed away. It’s only true that the Madden NFL franchise has a chance to celebrate its name with Madden NFL 23 this year. Electronic Arts has officially revealed Madden NFL 23 in a new trailer released Thursday morning, confirming the game’s August 19 release date. The trailer is filled with footage Madden will be working on, plus a first look at what EA is calling its new FieldSENSE technology.
The reveal trailer for Madden NFL 23 focus on two different things. The first is John Madden, who is seen in a series of clips from his days running on the sidelines and commenting on TV games. The second is Madden NFL 23’s new FieldSENSE playing system. FieldSENSE is described as providing the foundation for Madden NFL 23’s “surreal gameplay” and more specifically, allowing for greater control over every position. FieldSENSE is notably only enabled on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
A closer look at FieldSENSE was shared by EA, describing it as a “physically informed animation” technology. This technology has been applied through four main control mechanisms named Hit Everything, Skill-Based Passing, 360° Cuts and WR vs. DB Battles. Hit Everything offers more than 3,500 new animations related to ball handling, Skill-based Pass adds a pass speedometer for accurate throws, 360° Cuts allows players to make cuts harder to run with the ball and WR vs. DB Battles focuses on fast movements without shadows.
Madden NFL 23 will officially launch on August 19, the same time frame as the Madden releases in recent years. Similar is EA’s plan to release multiple versions Madden NFL 23, each version has its own pre-launch demo date. Those who pre-order Madden NFL 23 will get access to the game on August 18, a day early. Those who want three-day early access, starting August 16, need to subscribe to EA Play or purchase the Madden NFL 23 All Madden Edition
