In addition to the anime currently premiering, a stage play adaptation of Yamaguchi Tsubasa’s upcoming manga is Blue Period will be performed at the Galaxy Theater in Tokyo from March 25 to April 3, 2022, titled Blue Period The Stage. Ticket pre-sale will start from November 25 to December 6, then general ticket sales will begin on February 12, 2022.
The manga author posted his comments on the play’s official website:
“As for the ‘raw art’ of the stage, which is different from manga, I wonder what it would be like to draw figures, expressions, and a very simple story when shown on the big stage. I’m looking forward to seeing what the view from the audience seats will be like.”
Kaori Miura, best known for writing the directing script for the Saiyuki stage play series, is the script director of Masafumi Hata. And 23-year-old Kurumu Okamiya (Tsurumaru Kuninaga in the musical Touken Ranbu) is cast as the main character Yatora Yaguchi, a high school student whose goal is to attend Tokyo University of the Arts, the toughest art university in Japan.
Okami says:
“When I read the original manga, I was touched by Yatora, who faced great setbacks and obstacles with her strong beliefs. Many words throughout the story also pierced my heart. I look forward to writing this story. with my amazing co-stars and the staff! I’ll dye it blue with heat. Please support us! “
