The Call of the Night manga officially ended with its 200th final chapter on January 24 in the 9th issue of this year’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine. The manga’s main duo, Ko Yamori and Nazuna Nanakusa, appear on the magazine’s latest cover.
It’s worth noting that author Kotoyama announced that he planned to end Call of the Night with the 200th chapter last November. Following the manga’s conclusion, Kotoyama posted a special illustration featuring Nazuna Nanakusa, thanking fans for all the support they have shown for the series.
The manga Call of the Night, written and illustrated by Kotoyama, began publication in August 2019. It won the 68th Shogakukan Manga Award in the Shonen category, along with Ao no Orchestra (Blue Orchestra). Viz Media licensed the manga in English, describing the plot as follows: One sleepless night, Ko sneaks out to walk the streets. Life after darkness is a revelation! When Nazuna flirtatiously invites Ko to spend the night at her place in an abandoned building, he’s smitten! But then he woke up to kisses on his neck with a little too much bite… Was it just the delicious taste of his blood that made her meet him night after night for late night adventures, chatting and… nap? Or something else? Then, when a cute girl from Ko’s past appears and competes for his attention, his budding relationship with the undead is tested!
An anime adaptation, broadcast from July to September 2022, was animated by LIDEN FILMS. The anime has Tomoyuki Itamura as director, Tetsuya Miyanishi as chief animation director, Haruka Sagawa as character designer, and Michiko Yokote as scriptwriter. Yoshiaki Dewa handled the music while Norihiko Yokomatsu was the art director.
