Those who have purchased the manga before can download the translation again
Kodoani.com – BookLive announced today in a statement on their website that the re-translation of the English version of Ranking of Kings finished. According to the statement, users who purchased the previous version can re-download the new translation through the purchased website. A new translation has been handled by Crunchyroll.
BookLive previously halted distribution of Ranking of Kings volumes 1-7 in March 2022 after discovering “typo and translation errors” upon release. In today’s statement, BookLive notes that it has discovered that the previous translation “partially plagiarized the translation from the pirated version to create the previously translated version” from Dragon Digital Japan Co. , Ltd.
The Ranking of Kings manga series, written and illustrated by Sosuke Toka, began serialization in Echoes’ Manga Hack online magazine starting in 2017, with 15 volumes released in Japan to date. An anime adaptation from WIT Studio aired from October 2021 to March 2022. Crunchyroll streamed the adaptation and described the series:
How prosperous is your nation, how many strong warriors it boasts, and how heroic and powerful its king is. These are the criteria that influence the system known as the Ranking of Kings.
The main character, Bojji, was born as the first prince of the kingdom ruled by King Bossu, who was ranked seventh.
But Bojji was born unable to hear and was so helpless that he couldn’t swing his sword. Therefore, his subordinates, and the public, looked down on him as completely unfit to be king.
Then Bojji finds his first friend, Kage, and Bojji’s life takes a dramatic turn…
