Manga about cancer patients reincarnated in medieval Europe-like world launched in 2019
Kodoani.com – The official Twitter account of Takeshobo’s Web Comic Gamma manga website announced on Monday that the manga The Saga of Lioncourt (Lion Coeur Senki) by Nagy, adaptation of Hiroaki Ogura’s light novel of the same name, will end with a sequel in February.
Nagy launched the original character design manga by Toi8 in Takeshobo’s monthly magazine Kissca in 2019. The magazine halted publication in January 2022 and the manga moved to Web Comic Gamma in February. Takeshobo published the manga’s first compiled book volume in 2020 and the fifth volume in September 2022.
Tadashi Tanaka is a typical office worker whose life ended abruptly at the age of 41 due to cancer. But instead of going to heaven, he finds himself in a world that resembles medieval Europe. Like the Middle Ages, without modern conveniences, people ate with their hands and pigs roamed the streets. Worst of all, wars between nations are a daily occurrence.
Now, Tadashi Tanaka must live a second life as Varian de Lioncourt. Can an ordinary office worker survive in this cruel world?
Varian’s rise to power begins here
Ogura launched the light novel on the Shōsetsu-ka ni Narou (“Let’s Be Novelists”) website in 2017 with the original title Tanaka Tadashi (41) Kenkoku-ki. [Chūsei Europe-Fū Nante Kitsusugiru!] (Tadashi Tanaka The Record of Founding a Nation: Living in a World Like Medieval Europe Is Hard!). The novel won the Crowd Gate’s 6th Net Shōsetsu Taishō Grand Prize (Net Novel Award). Tugikuru published the first volume of the novel in 2018 with illustrations by toi8 and the title was changed to Lion Coeur Senki. The second volume of the novel was released in 2019.
