Kodoani.com – On April 9, 2023, Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki once again collaborated to launch a new manga. The duo previously worked together on Shokugeki no Souma, with Yuto in charge of the story and Saeki in charge of the illustrations.
The two’s new manga collaboration is titled Tenmaku Cinemaand as the name suggests, the story revolves around a young film enthusiast who wishes to produce his own films.
Tenmaku Cinema introduces readers to Hajime Shinichi, an extremely film buff who one day encounters the ghost of mysterious and talented screenwriter Takihiko Tenmaku. With the help of this ghost, he aims to create the best movies!
We regret to inform you that the manga has been officially canceled. This September 3, Chapter 20 was published and according to information spread on social networking sites sharing manga news, the next chapter, Chapter 21, will be the last.
Fans expressed disappointment:
“Please free Saeki from Jump.”
“I’m sad that this manga has ended; it means a lot to me as I work in the TV/Film industry and it’s great to see the manga tackle this topic.”
“I will miss Himeki.”
“I won’t have Himeki anymore.”
“I expected this but it is tragic. I really like this series but it clearly doesn’t have an audience in Jump.”
“Tenmaku should have been in Jump+ or Young Jump, not in Shonen Jump.”
“And it’s getting so good…”
For those who follow comics on the MangaPlus website, they know that these types of sudden cancellations are more common than one might think. Now that Western audiences can watch the same releases as Japan, they’re seeing how Jump works.
