Kodoani.com – Manga's 25th volume “Tomodachi Game” (Friends Games) by Yuki Satō revealed on Thursday that the series will end when the 26th volume is released in the fall.
The story is based on an original idea by Mikoto Yamaguchi, revolving around Yūichi Katagiri, a young man with a perfect student life and four friends with difficult lives. His peaceful daily life ends when 2 million yen (about 20,000 USD) for school tour fees goes missing. Puzzles unfold as Yūichi is drawn into a mysterious game for money and must decide whether friendship or money is more important.
Satō (from “Sherlock Bones”, “Yokai Doctor”) launched the manga in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in December 2013. The manga went on hiatus in December 2019, returning with one chapter in February 2020 and then went on hiatus. The manga entered its final season in August 2020.
The anime adaptation of the manga series premiered on NTV in April 2022.
This manga has spawned a previous live-action television series and two live-action films.
The first film, “Tomodachi Game Gekijōban”, premiered in June 2017 after the live-action television series debuted in April 2017. The second film premiered in Japan in September 2017. The film inspired a new live-action TV show due in July 2022.
