Denpa will publish the first manga volume in English on January 25
This year’s 41st issue of Kodansha’s Young Magazine announced on Monday Kengo Hanazawa’s Under Ninja manga is getting a TV anime adaptation.
Manga publisher Denpa licensed the manga in 2020 and will publish the first compiled volume in English in print on January 25. Amazon describes the manga:
After World War II, Allied Command in Japan developed a new agency to help manage terrorism and violence in the Pacific region. The agency is staffed with ninjas and they were initially tasked with dealing with domestic affairs. That program eventually evolved into its current form, managing 20,000 ninjas in a wide range of domestic and international affairs. One of those ninjas is Kudo. The losing seventeen-year-old high school student is now poised to become the next line of defense against a potential surge of foreign assassins invading Tokyo.
NHK World TV’s imagine-nation program, an English-language program airing on an international broadcast service, announced in March 2020 that Hanazawa’s Under Ninja manga will begin serialization in the US, Italy, China and other countries in April 2020.
Hanazawa (I am a Hero) launched the manga in Kodansha’s Young Magazine in July 2018. The compilation’s fifth volume shipped on March 5, and the sixth volume shipped on Monday.
Hanazawa launched the I am a Hero manga in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Spirits magazine in 2009, and ended the series in 2017 with 22 volumes. The series has adapted two spinoff manga series. A live-action film adaptation opened in Japan in April 2016. Dark Horse Comics is releasing the film.
