Kodoani.com – Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ service revealed on Thursday that Mari Yamazaki will launch a sequel to her Thermae Romae manga, titled Zoku Thermae Romae (Thermae Romae Continued) on February 6. This manga will be updated weekly on Tuesdays.
In the new part of the manga, the main character Lucius is now nearly 60 years old, but continues his adventure of traveling through time between ancient Rome and modern Japan.
Mari Yamazaki launched the manga in Kadokawa’s Comic Beam magazine in 2008 and ended it in March 2013. The manga served as the basis for a three-episode anime series in 2012 and two live-action films starring by Hiroshi Abe and Aya Ueto.
Thermae Romae was adapted for a new anime titled Thermae Romae Novae, which aired on Netflix in March 2022. Netflix describes the story of the manga and anime as follows:
“Lucius, a bathroom designer in the Roman Empire, accidentally travels back in time to modern Japan and explores Japanese bathroom culture in this comedy.”
