The series went on hiatus in September and returned in issue fourth issue of Shueisha’s Grand Jump magazine on January 17.
The manga focuses on middle school teacher Umi Yamauchi, who one day learns of the murder of Yūki Suzuki, his middle school friend. A few days later, Tamao Yagisawa, Umi’s girlfriend and a budding editor of a literary magazine, discovers that the case bears a startling similarity to an event in a novel in question. Nominated but did not win a literary award.
Morita launched the manga in Grand Jump in December 2022, and the first volume was published by Shueisha in April 2023.
Morita is best known for his creation of the manga “Rookies,” which inspired the 2008 live-action television series and the 2009 film “Rookies: Graduation.”
Morita’s “Rokudenashi Blues” manga was previously adapted for a 1992 anime film as well as the 1993 “Rokudenashi Blues” anime.
Morita also launched the “Beshari Gurashi” manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2005 and ended it in March 2015. Shueisha has published 19 compiled book volumes for the series. The series served as the basis for a live-action television series that aired in July 2019.
