The live-action adaptation of Tease Master Takagi-san will hit Netflix next March.
According to Anime News Network, the upcoming live-action remake of Soichiro Yamamoto’s hit series will premiere globally on Netflix in March 2024, with new episodes debuting on the platform every Tuesday . After launching on Netflix, TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System) will broadcast the show on the “Drama Stream” programming block to viewers across Japan. In addition to Takagi-san’s debut, the showrunners also revealed more details about the staff and cast, including those who will take on the main roles of Takagi-san and Nishikata.
Rui Tsukishima, a famous model from Shueisha’s Seventeen magazine, will play Takagi-san. Her previous roles include a guest role in Episodes 11-12 of Kamen Rider Geats. The role of Nishikata will be played by Soya Kurokawa, who appeared in Hirokazu Koreeda’s 2023 horror film Monster. He also appeared in the 2014 mystery series Emergency Interrogation Room. Rikiya Imaizumi (What Is Love?, By the Window) will direct and co-write Takagi-san. Tomoki Kanazawa (Sanctuary, Get Ready!) and Jun Hagimori (Sabakan) will co-write the film along with director Imaizumi.
Soichiro Yamamoto’s humorous slice-of-life manga, Tease Master Takagi-San, debuted in Shogakukan’s Gessan Mini volume in June 2013. The series revolves around Nishikata, a middle school student who endures torment and pranks. every day from his cheeky classmate, Takagi-san. . On top of that, her uncanny ability to predict Nishikata’s reactions makes it nearly impossible for him to retaliate. Although the pair spend a lot of time trying to support each other, they also share a genuine friendship that deepens throughout the series. After nearly ten years, Takagi-San Tease Master is scheduled to end on October 12 in the November 2023 issue of Monthly Shonen Sunday magazine.
Shin-Ei Animation, the studio behind the iconic Doremon series, created the popular anime adaptation of Takagi-san, which debuted in January 2018. Directed by Hiroaki Akagi (The Dangers In My Heart) director, the series stars Rie Takahashi (Fate/Grand Order) ) and Yuuki Kaji (Attack on Titan) as Takagi-san and Nishikata, respectively. The third season of Takagi-san ended in March 2022, three months before the release of the series’ first animated film, Tease Master Takagi-San: The Movie. In this film, Takagi-san and Nishikata spend their summer vacation together, adopting and taking care of an abandoned kitten they find at a temple.
