Summary
Vegeta ends up training on Beerus' planet because he has been away from home for too long and is afraid of losing Bulma's attention. Vegeta's comment implies that Bulma will leave him if he stays too long, just like she abandoned her last uncommitted mate, Yamcha. While the idea of conditional love in marriage is somewhat dark, Vegeta understands the importance of treating Bulma the way she deserves.
Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Dragon Ball Super chapter 103!vegetable and Bulma are the iconic couple in Dragon Ball canon, as the two have been together practically since Vegeta decided to live on Earth after the Frieza Saga, and they have two children together, Trunks and Bulla. However, the darkness in their relationship still lurks beneath the surface, something Vegeta hinted at in the latest chapter of Dragon Ball Super.
In Dragon Ball Super chapter 103 by Akira Toriyama and Toyotarou, Goku and Vegeta are training on Beerus's planet with Gohan, evaluating the power of Gohan's new Beast Mode form. The training itself includes some of the most exciting 'fights' in Dragon Ball history, including Ultra Instinct Goku vs Gohan Beast, Gohan Beast vs Broly, and even an all-out brawl between all Saiyans at once.
When the fight ended, everyone decided that it was time to return to Earth because Goku and Vegeta had been away from home for quite a while and Gohan wanted to get home in time to pick Pan up from school. And right when they decided to leave, Vegeta said something quite special: “Bulma might lose interest if I'm gone for too long.” However, as strange and contradictory as this comment was, Vegeta was not without reason for making it.
Bulma has proven that she will dump someone who isn't committed to their relationship in Dragon Ball
Before Vegeta and Bulma began their relationship, Bulma had been dating Yamsha for a while. However, when it became clear that Yamsha was not committed to her relationship with Bulma, she abandoned him and pursued Vegeta. However, at this point in Dragon Ball canon, Vegeta has been off-world for some time, and shortly after Bulma gave birth to their daughter, Bulla. If he stayed any longer, it might give Bulma the impression that he was no longer committed to their marriage.
Vegeta had seen firsthand how tolerant Bulma was towards an absent mate and he knew he could lose her the same way Yamcha did. Sure, their relationship is a bit more serious than Bulma's relationship with Yamcha, but Bulma is fiercely independent and extremely confident in her own worth. So if it seems like Vegeta doesn't want to be in her life, she'll have no problem cutting him out – and Vegeta knows it.
Vegeta has a healthy fear of Bulma (as he should)
Not only will Bulma leave Vegeta if he doesn't give her the love and attention she deserves as his wife, but he also has a healthy fear of Bulma – as he should . Regardless of transformation or power level, Bulma is perhaps the most fearsome Z-Fighter in Dragon Ball. She is incredibly brilliant, exorbitantly wealthy, and has unlimited access to Earth's Dragon Balls. It doesn't matter how strong Vegeta is, if Bulma wants to make his life a living hell, she absolutely can – and that's probably what Vegeta loves most about her.
Although the nature of their relationship is probably the only one in which Vegeta (and Bulma) are truly happy – as they are both equal parts aggressive and crazy, their madness is completely compatible. compatible with the other – it's admittedly dark if it's true that their relationship could end if Bulma “loses interest” in Vegeta. However, it seems that Vegeta is fully aware of what is expected of him as Bulma's husband, and although he will always be out training or fighting powerful enemies in the universe, vegetable make sure to always make time for your Bulma.
