Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia, featuring a variety of characters and heroes from various Final Fantasy games, uses a turn-based combat system. Players can build Courage to prepare for moments of strategic combat. Players can also team up with up to two other players to complete multiplayer missions and receive rewards.
Square Enix describes the game’s story:
Darkness covers us, and the world collapses before our eyes… What was once a refuge for the weary has now become a battlefield. Long ago, the gods Spiritus and Materia warped the fabric of time and space to create a new world—a world they inhabited with warriors from other realms.
These men and women are forced to fight day and night without reprieve, and the strain of endless battle quickly becomes too much. With beaten bodies and broken spirits, they let out a cry for help…
In the siege of despair, small light begins to grow from resilient hearts. The warrior, although hurt, never gives up hope. They unite, creating a strong team, ready to face any challenge. The war is not only a battle between strength and weakness, but also the solidarity of resilient souls, determined to rebuild the world.
In the whirlwind of war, these warriors are not just the defenders of the world, but the ones who reshape the common destiny of humanity. Darkness may prevail, but from it comes the light of hope, and in love and solidarity, they will rebuild a new world.
Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia originally launched in Japan on February 1, 2017, on iOS and Android, and was later released in the West in January 2018.
