Many games that are familiar in the mobile game industry have won awards. The TIGA (Independent Game Developers Association) awards are given to a variety of categories such as Game of the Year, Best Game Genre, Best Game Publisher, and Small or Largest Game Studio. Sony Interactive Entertainment and Supermassive Games won the award, but many mobile game studios won higher.
Kwalee received the award for Best Game Publisher. Ustwo received two awards as Best Small Studio and Best Mobile Casual Game (for Alba: A Wildlife Adventure), and finally, Space Ape Games received Best Game for Beatstar mobile game.
Kwalee, the world’s leading game developer and cross-platform game distributor, acquired the first studio with a deal with Tictales. Established as one of the world’s leading mobile game developers, Kwalee has achieved over 750 million downloads through its game products.
In particular, Kwalee released a statement about the win saying it was “excited about this recognition”. “This is not the first year that TIGA has recognized Kwalee’s ability to create exceptional games,” said Vice President Harry Lang. In recent years, the company has been among the award winning game units for two consecutive years. The award from TIGA affirms that Kwalee continues to grow and move in the right direction.”
The mobile game industry stands out against competing platforms like consoles and PCs. Therefore, mobile games are always remarkable when winning big prizes. The TIGA Award is notable for its strict, professional management organization, which is highly appreciated by professionals.
The mobile games market is growing rapidly at a CAGR of over 11%, and there are several challenges that need to be addressed to sustain this growth. One of the biggest challenges is ensuring that players have a positive experience with mobile games, in other words game publishers need to ensure long-term user retention. This includes making sure the game is fair and safe, providing customer support, and managing in-game transactions with the utmost transparency. Another challenge is that mobile game development requires more time and resources to develop, which can make it difficult for small game makers to compete.
