Kodoani.com – The March issue of Kadokawa’s Gundam Ace magazine announced on Thursday that Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury (Kidō Senshi Gundam: Suisei no Majo), the first new Gundam television anime series in seven years, will get a spinoff manga and will begin serialization in the magazine in the spring.
Kō Yoneyama wrote the script, and Chika Tōjō drew the manga. HISADAKE is responsible for the collaborative planning, and mogmo is credited as the original character designer.
The side story manga is set a few years after the events of Vanadis. A witch named Vilda Miren is a survivor and she travels around the earth with a “curse”.
The Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury anime also has a novel adaptation, which began serialization in Gundam Ace in November.
The series is the first main Gundam television anime series to feature a female protagonist. The anime premiered in Japan on October 2 on MBS and TBS, and airs on Sundays at 5:00 p.m. KST. The first season of the anime ended with the 12th episode on January 8. The second season of the anime will air in April on the same Sunday at 5:00 PM on MBS, and TBS is the first season.
Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury – Prologue, the film’s prequel, premiered on the Gundam.info YouTube channel outside of Japan on September 1. The prequel anime also debuted on streaming services. streamed in Japan on September 4 and then aired on MBS and TBS on September 25.
The anime’s official website published an English translation of Ichiro Okouchi’s “Cradle Planet” prequel short story for the anime on November 10.
