The Monogatari the film will have two new anime adaptations: Off season And Monster season. The initial announcement was said to be a new Aniplex project: the letters, O and M were posted. SHAFT is once again animated with Akiyuki Shinbo as the main director. Teaser images and trailers are now available:
Off-Season is a collection of side stories focusing on different characters. It includes four arcs: Orokamonogatari, Wazamonogatari, Nademonogatari and Musubimonogatari. Overall, this is the fourth story in the novel series. Meanwhile, Monster Season tells the story of Koyomi’ Araragi’s college life in six parts:
- Shinobumonogatari
- monogram
- Amarimonogatari
- Ougimonogatari
- Shinomonogatari (two novels)
Midori Yoshizawa is credited as the director of the new Monogatari anime project. Shinbo is also in charge of compiling the series with SHAFT (Fuyashi Tou). Akio Watanabe is the character designer and animation director.
Monogatari is a light novel series written by Nisi Oisin and illustrated by Vofan. The series began serialization in 2006, and although the volumes cover different seasons, each season’s title ends in -monogatari. Bakemonogatari is a manga adaptation of a light novel, illustrated by Oh! Great. The story has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine since 2018 and currently has 152 chapters, compiled into 15 volumes.
The franchise received an anime adaptation titled Bakemonogatari by studio SHAFT in the summer of 2009. Nisemonogatari and Nisemonogatari (Black) followed in 2012. Monogatari Series: Second Season aired in 2013 and includes 6 part of the light novel. Adaptations of The Final Season, including Tsukimonogatari, Owarimonogatari, Koyomimonogatari, Owarimonogatari II, Zoku Owarimonogatari, aired from 2014 to 2019 as a combination of specials, television anime, and movies .
The prequel novel Kizumonogatari was also adapted as three films: Tekketsu, Nekketsu and Reiketsu. A new trailer, titled Kizmonogatari: Koyomi Vamp, was released on January 12 in Japan. The new film has new dialogue and edited scenes. As part of its promotional efforts for the newly released film, the franchise unveiled a special eight-minute commercial, said to be the longest in Japanese history.
In addition to the SHAFT studio, names such as Tatsuya Oishi, Akiyuki Shinbo, Akio Watanabe, Yukito Kizawa and Muneo Nakamoto have also joined the franchise. In 2022, the studio revealed a trailer for the Bakemonogatari manga.
