Kodoani.com – Original anime movie project Kurayukaba directed by Shigeyoshi Tsukahara and Twiflo won Best Animated Feature in the Audience Award category at the 27th annual Fantasia International Film Festival.
The Concierge, the anime adaptation of Tsuchika Nishimura’s The Concierge at Hokkyoku Department Store manga, took second place in the same category. The First Slam Dunk, the new anime adaptation of Takehiko Inoue’s Slam Dunk basketball manga, took third place.
The First Slam Dunk also won Best Animated Feature in the Axis Awards: Satoshi Kon category, and the anime film SAND LAND earned a special jury nomination in the same category at the International Film Festival. this year’s Fantasia festival.
The first crowdfunding campaign of the Kurayukaba project took place from December 2018 to February 2019 to finance the film. The campaign raised 6,901,864 yen (about 63,000 US dollars) from 397 supporters. The campaign hit its goal of 4,000,000 yen (approximately US$35,300) to create a one-minute video (the initial goal was a 30-second video).
The official crowdfunding campaign for the film kicked off in April 2020 and aims to raise 20 million yen (about US$188,000) to fund a film that is at least 40 minutes long. The campaign ends in August 2020 with an amount of 8,798,500 yen (about 79,513).
