Kodoani.com – Vietnamese film distributor Lotte Cinema on Tuesday announced it will open Eiga Doraemon: Nobita to Sora no Utopia (Doraemon the Movie 2023: Nobita’s Sky Utopia), the 42nd film in the Doraemon series, in Vietnam on May 26.
The film opened in Japan on March 3 and sold 542,000 tickets, grossing 663 million yen (about US$4.87 million) in its first three days. The film has sold a total of 3.37 million tickets with a cumulative total of 4,004,713,650 yen (approximately US$29.76 million) since its opening, as of April 16.
The film is set in a perfect, utopian world in the sky, where everyone lives happily. Explorers have equated this land with other mythical cities, such as Atlantis or Ryūgū-jō. Doraemon and Nobita embark on an adventure to find the unthinkable with the help of a brand-new item from the movie, a time-bending airship equipped with a time-bending function.
Takumi Dōyama directed the film. Ryota Kosawa wrote the script — his first screenplay for the movie Doraemon. The current cast of the television anime reprized their roles in the series. Ren Nagase of the idol group King & Prince voiced the role of “perfect cat robot” Sonya for the first time in the film.
