The MultiVersus open beta start date has been revealed along with gameplay for The Iron Giant. The upcoming interstellar fighting game will bring together characters from various Warner Bros. franchises. like DC Comics, Game of Thrones and Looney Tunes. In May, MultiVersus revealed The Iron Giant, straight from the 1999 animated film of the same name, and fans can now watch the cyborg hero in action.
MultiVersus appears similar to other fighting games like Super Smash Bros. and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, but its roster is much broader with more characters. Players will be able to choose from a roster of characters including Batman, Bugs Bunny, Steven Universe and Arya Stark to battle. MultiVersus is also set to become a free-to-play title, with developer Player First Games adding more combat characters to the game post-launch. The game is mainly based on 2v2 matches, although other game modes will also be available such as 1v1 and free for all. A closed alpha test of MultiVersus was held this past May, and many more players will soon experience the combined mayhem in the open beta.
An announcement video by MultiVersus, posted to YouTube, reveals that players will be able to access the open beta that will begin July 26 across all platforms. Players can also sign up to get early access to the beta, which will begin July 19, along with those who participated in the closed beta. Player progress in the MultiVersus open beta will carry over to the full version of the game. The announcement comes with a new MultiVersus gameplay trailer, also posted to YouTube, showcasing The Iron Giant’s cyborg skill set. The robot uses its abilities, including flying, diving and cannon firing, straight from the popular 1999 cartoon.
