Kodoani.com – A website opened on Wednesday to announce an anime adaptation of the manga My Clueless First Friend (Jijou wo Shiranai Tenkousei ga Guigui Kuru.) by Taku Kawamura. The website has revealed the main voice cast and staff of the anime, which will premiere in 2023.
Kawamura drew an illustration to commemorate this announcement.
A lonely, gloomy fifth grade girl is the target of relentless bullying and teasing by her classmates—that is, until a new child appears. The friendly Takada is oblivious because he means well, but somehow he possesses the magical ability to start pulling “Death” Nishimura out of her shell. When elementary students come together to experience all the joys of childhood summer—from swimming, picking sunflowers to watching fireworks—an extraordinary friendship blooms!

Shigenori Kageyama (DYNAMIC CHORD, Himawari!, Himawari Too!!) is directing the anime at St.Signpost, and Chikashi Kadekaru (Mieruko-chan, Juni Taisen: Zodiac War) is designing the characters. Takafumi Hoshikawa (Shaman King Storyboard, Unit Director) and Shogo Yasukawa (Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma, Ayakashi Triangle) are writing the scripts, and Toshio Masuda (Kamisama Kiss, Naruto) is composing the music.
Kawamura launched the manga in Square Enix’s Gangan Joker magazine in May 2018. Square Enix published the manga’s first compiled book volume in October 2018, and the 13th volume will ship on the 22nd. 11. Square Enix Manga & Books will publish the first volume in English on March 7 and the second volume on June 6.
