The creators of the hit shoujo drama My Happy Marriage (Wata Marriage) have announced that the anime has been renewed for a second season.
The second season was confirmed by My Happy Marriage’s official X account and Anime News Network. The announcement was accompanied by three new images and a video of the anime series’ main actors, Reina Ueda (Miyo Saimori) and Kaito Ishikawa (Kiyoka Kudou). The voice actors revealed in their video that the anime will continue to tell the unique love story of Miyo and Kiyoka. Ueda said that she believes this season will be the true beginning of Miyo and Kiyoka’s happy marriage because they are finally “looking in the same direction.” Ishikawa (Kiyoka) also expressed excitement about the couple’s journey and revealed the appearance of new characters.
My Happy Marriage is based on a series of light novels written by Akumi Agitoginone and illustrated by Tsukiho Tsukioka. The plot is set in an alternate version of the 19th century Meiji Restoration period, where spirits and magic are real but in decline. The story revolves around Miyo Saimori, a young girl born without supernatural abilities who is forced into a life of slavery by her abusive stepmother. Upon reaching adulthood, Miyo discovers that her future fiancé is Kiyoka Kudou, a commander known for his cold and strict attitude, causing previous brides-to-be to run away within three days. after getting engaged. Despite the confusing introduction, as the film unfolds, Miyo and Kiyoka find themselves slowly opening up to each other, realizing that they could be each other’s chance at finding true love and happiness.
