Blackwhip is one of the newest Superpowers Deku inherited and acquired in his quest to become Mankind’s Greatest Hero.
The first use of this skill was during a joint training battle, where he accidentally released Blackwhip, nearly injuring his classmates and losing control.
But what is this new Quirk? Where does it originate from? And how does Deku use it? Let’s Vietotaku Find out in the following article.
Source
The origins of Blackwhip are said to have passed to Deku from the previous One For All predecessor – Daigoro Banjo. Daigoro is a former Pro Hero and the fifth person to own One For All.
During his time as a Pro Hero, Daigoro used Blackwhip to create tentacles of black energy from his arms for grappling and increased mobility.
During joint combat training, Deku was brainwashed by Hitoshi Shinso’s Quirk and put into a trance.
While unconscious, Deku encounters Daigoro and his One For All predecessors. Daigoro then explains that the black veins Deku emits are actually Diagoro’s Quirk expression, Blackwhip.
He went on to explain that Blackwhip needs to be used in a more controlled state for maximum effectiveness because its power is connected to the user’s emotions and if used carelessly it is difficult to control. .
He also expects Deku to do his best, that all the One For All predecessors were there to support him.
Blackwhip
Blackwhip is a powerful Quirk that gives the user the ability to create tentacles from any part of their body and manipulate them at will.
Similar to Spider-Man’s webs, they can shoot out of the user’s body to attach to objects and enemies. The tassels are black with teal green outlines.
Blackwhip is also mainly controlled by emotions, the stronger the emotions, the higher the power of the Quirk.
Deku gradually learns to master this Quirk as long as he stays calm and doesn’t lose control of his emotions.
Deku is seen protecting civilians by using Blackwhip to prevent cars from falling. By the time the occult liberation war took place, Deku had completely mastered the Blackwhip and used it to fight Tomura Shigaraki.
He used Blackwhip to strengthen his skeleton in order to deliver powerful blows to Tomura, greatly reducing the damage to his arms and legs.
Deku’s anger and hatred towards Tomura spurred Blackwhip to become even stronger.
He also used Blackwhip as a means of restraining Tomura. Blackwhip also improves Deku’s mobility for grappling, slingshots, swinging off buildings, and carrying large objects.
Weakness
No matter how strong a superpower is, there is a possibility of weakness. The weakness of Blackwhip is that when users do not control their emotional state, they cannot control Blackwhip.
This is seen in both the occult liberation war and the general training battle.
During the joint training battle, Deku nearly injures one of his classmates and fears the new Quirk when it takes over him because of his lack of control over his emotions.
The occult liberation war is another example where Deku lost his temper due to his hatred and anger towards Tomura and kept pushing his body even after being warned not to.
Special move
One of the top moves when using Blackwhip is the “Froppy style”, in which Deku shoots a Blackwhip vine at an enemy with just his mouth. The name pays homage to his classmate Tsuyu Asui aka Froppy.
Another move Deku uses with Blackwhip is called PinPoint Focus, a powerful move that shoots a vein with extreme precision at a specific target.
There are also several other ultimate moves including Faux 100 Percent, Faux 100 Percent: Manchester Smash, both of which are standout moves, and Blackchain, which grapples with opponents and ties them up allowing Deku to throw them away a long distance.
