Here’s an overview of My Hero Academia’s final battle, including which fronts, who’s fighting on each of them, and what’s going on.
Kodoani.com – The Last Big Battle of My Hero Academia, Deku vs Shigaraki, has been limited in time. Deku has five minutes to defeat Shigaraki before he is too exhausted to fight. This means that the Final War Arc is coming to an end soon, but is far from over.
Kohei Horikoshi has gone back in time to the story of the MHA to cover what is happening on the remaining major fronts of the war. It is likely that once the rest of the battles on these fronts have come to an end, it will be time to cut back on Deku and Shigaraki. At least, this part can’t be exactly ended until the audience sees what happens in these battles.
Currently, the story is focusing on the battle at the Central Hospital. On the villains side, Spinner is leading soldiers of the Mystic Liberation Front and Mutant Civilians in a hospital raid to free Kurogiri. Opposing him are the Heroes led by Present Mic, including Rock Lock, Tentacole, and Anima, as well as several law enforcement officers. As of Chapter 372, “Naked”, Spinner and Present Mic have approached the perpetrator and are trying to summon Kurogiri and Shirakumo respectively.
Another important front is the Gigantomachia Containment Facility in the ruins of Jaku Hospital. Several villains are trying to break into the facility and free the giant monster, including the mud villain and the PLF Operator who killed Midnight. They are being propped up by Heroes led by Mt. Lady leader, including Mudman, Emily, Rule, Grape Juice, Red Riot and Pinky. The students of Class 1-A especially have a personal interest in this battle due to their love of Midnight.
Himiko Toga is currently at the Okuto Island Aquarium fighting Uravity and Froppy. She has some high level Nomus and Moonfish, currently being handled by Heroes like the Gang Orca, his party, and Sirius. Toga and Uravity are both determined to fight for what they believe in, despite the former’s desire to connect with the latter.
Dabi is currently at Kamino Ward Ground Zero with another large High-End Nomu. He is being handled by Shōto’s companions, Ingenium and Endeavor, including Burnin, Onima, and Kido. It seems Shōto hit Dabi at first, but he later regained consciousness, severely wounding Onima, and began walking towards Endeavor’s location.
As for Endeavor, he and the Hawks, aided by Tsukuyomi and Jack, are fighting the All For One at the ruins of the Gunga Mountain Mansion. Meanwhile, Heroes like Kamui Woods, Shishido, Pixie-Bob and Shemage are fighting the villains around. All For One used Eri’s Rewind Quirk to revert his body state, but it would soon return him to nothingness. Before that, however, he plans to meet Shigaraki again and free Shigaraki from the trap the Heroes have set for him.
Shigaraki is actually a prisoner at UA High. The school building has been converted into a floating fortress, maintained by a number of students and faculty members such as Power Loader, Cementoss, Mei Hatsume, Creati, Chargebolt, and Comicman. Shigaraki is also having his Quirks destroyed by Eraserhead, Phantom Thief, and Manual. This doesn’t say anything about him having to fight Best Jeanist, Mirko, Big Three and Deku; Dynamight is dead, but he will probably rejoin the fight if Edgeshot can successfully resuscitate him. Mandalay is also there to relay messages between the team and the outside world; this doesn’t directly hurt Shigaraki, but it does emphasize how alone he is in all of this. Again, this fight is likely to come back into focus after some other issues are resolved.
Besides that, there are a few other fronts in this final war. Sugarman, Tapeman and Cellophane are battling random villains at Takoba National Stadium. Fat Gum and Can’t Stop Twinkling are fighting Kunieda and the other villains still in the Troy parking lot. It is unclear what impact these battles will have on the larger scale war.
Things were pretty precarious on the side of the Heroes in the conflict. One of their victory conditions was to keep the main villains apart. If they lose at the Kurogiri, Dabi, Gigantomachia or AFO fronts, it can create a domino effect that causes them all to find their way back to each other. If the villains regroup, the Heroes will lose their greatest advantage over them.
In any case, the MHA has at least five key fronts that the MHA needs to address before it can return to UA. Once the results of these battles are over, the story can return to Deku’s climactic battle with Shigaraki. Some of these fronts may even have an adverse effect on the Shigaraki war. It all depends on whether the Heroes on the scene can score decisive victories on all these fronts.
