Kodoani.com – Netflix has posted a trailer for the upcoming movie Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos the Moviea two-part animated film project adapting the final “Shadow Galactica” arc of the comic book series Sailor Moon by Naoko Takeuchi. The films will premiere on Netflix on August 22.
Both films were released in Japan in June 2023.
Tomoya Takahashi (Den-noh Coil, Gatchaman Crowds) directed both films at Toei Animation. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (all six parts of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Land of the Lustrous, PriPara) returned to pen the script. Kazuko Tadanocharacter designer for the original Sailor Moon anime, continues to design the characters. Yasuharu Takanashi (Naruto Shippūden) returns to compose the music. Yumiko Kuga is art director.

Netflix begins streaming animated film project Pretty Guardians Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie (Bishōjo Senshi Sailor Moon Eternal) in two parts worldwide in June 2021. This two-part film project replaces the fourth season of Sailor Moon Crystal. The films cover the “Dead Moon” arc of Takeuchi's original manga.
The third season of Sailor Moon Crystal, featuring a new cast and focusing on the Death Busters arc (also known as the Infinity arc), premiered in April 2016. Crunchyroll, Niconico, and Hulu streamed the season. These three services and others streamed the first two seasons of Sailor Moon Crystal overseas when they debuted online in Japan. Netflix is also streaming Sailor Moon Crystal.
Viz Media has licensed all three seasons for release in North America. The company released the first season of Sailor Moon Crystal on DVD and DVD/Blu-ray Disc combo pack in August 2016, the second season in February 2017, and the third season in December 2017.
Version Sailor Moon Stars Viz Media's 2019 fifth and final season of the original Sailor Moon anime adapting the “Shadow Galactica” arc, marking the first time the season has been released on home video in North America. Sailor Moon Stars originally aired for 34 episodes from 1996 to 1997.
