Upcoming anime series Dragon Ball Daima revealed a brand new trailer at the weekend-long Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2024 event in Los Angeles, along with some original character artwork from the franchise creator. Acting Akira Toriyama.
Closing out an exciting weekend, Daima’s Special Workshop featured nearly a minute of never-before-seen footage from Toei Animation’s upcoming Dragon Ball anime. The new trailer, seen below, focuses specifically on Son Goku, showing the mini-Saiyan fighting off a horde of demon soldiers with his famous energy pillar, a weapon he also uses in the original Dragon Ball manga. Much of the humor of the original series also shines through when Goku tries to devour a plate of food while defending himself.

Dragon Ball’s Akira Toriyama designs a new logo for his own city
In honor of a major city in his home province, Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama designed a new samurai-themed logo for the region.
Following the trailer premiere, Dragon Ball executive producer Akio Iyoku stepped forward to introduce a series of brand new concept illustrations created by Akira Toriyama. Appropriately, the majority of these are character sketches of the cast in new, compact form. Featured characters include Goku, Krillin, Mr. Satan, Android 18, Chichi and Goku’s old enemy, Maijin Buu. Iyoku also showcased sketches of unnamed enemies in the trailer. He kept the identities of these enemies a secret but directly hinted at their importance in Daima’s plot: “All I’m going to say is pay attention to each character in the trailer.”
Daima has been a hot topic in the anime community since the first trailer was released last year. Many fans eagerly awaiting updates regarding the anime adaptation of Dragon Ball Super were surprised by the surprising new direction Toei planned for the franchise’s 40th anniversary. As shown in the series’ first trailer, Daima tells a brand new story revolving around Goku and his friends being transformed into child versions of themselves. Now, the group must embark on a journey together to a mysterious new world to return to normal. Last year, it was confirmed that the series would consist of a total of 20 episodes, suggesting a significantly shorter plot than previous Dragon Ball films.

While Daima seems like a dream come true for OG Toriyama fans, many still hold out hope for the return of Super, whose final season includes the famous “Tournament of Power” story arc. ”. Since 2018, the ongoing Dragon Ball Super manga has progressed through several supplements, including “Moro Saga,” “Granolah the Survivor,” and “High School Saga.” The manga’s current arc, “Super Hero,” builds on the events of Toei’s hit film, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, while also shifting the narrative focus to Goten and Trunks. Toei Animation has not yet mentioned its future plans regarding the continuation of the Dragon Ball Super anime series.
Dragon Ball Daima is scheduled to release in fall 2024. A specific launch date has not yet been revealed.
