Pokemon has revealed the return of two fan-favorite characters in the latest introduction to the Journeys anime.
Kodoani.com – Pokemon Journeys teased fan-favorite characters from previous seasons (with the exception of Serena), and now it looks like two more iconic characters will be returning soon. The latest trailers for upcoming episodes of the Journeys saga were recently released and featured Paul, Ash’s greatest rival and perhaps his strongest Pokemon, Greninja. These two well-known characters from the past have Pokemon fans seething with their great return in their never-ending adventure with Ash Ketchum.
Anime Pokemon Journeys is like a victory round and a farewell tour at the same time. Ash’s world adventures and his new friend Goh have had countless runs with some of Ash’s oldest friends. Brock, Misty, Dawn, Iris, the entire Alola gang and even Gary Oak make a nostalgic reappearance as Ash and Goh jump from region to region to work for Professor Cerise. Ash and Goh’s adventures show no signs of slowing down, and now it looks like there will be even more classic reunions for the aspiring Pokemon Master.
At the time of writing, Ash is currently ranked 15th out of over 10,000 original participants of the World Coronation Series. Since his goal is to make it to the Top 8, Paul’s return could be Ash’s last test of entering the Master Ranked Tournament, which will decide the new Pokemon Monarch – aka trainer. Officially the greatest trainer in the world. Ash has battled lots of old opponents, friends and even gym tops during the World Championship Round, and his duel against his biggest rival will be the ultimate test of the world. perfect to achieve master.
Paul hasn’t been seen since he lost to Ash in the Sinnoh Federation, after which he went to avenge Brandon the Pyramid King in Snowpoint City. A popular but controversial character, Paul’s habit of abusing Pokemon to make them stronger is what prevented Ash from surviving during his Sinnoh campaign. However, Ash’s love of Pokemon was contagious enough to make Paul abandon his harsh methods. Paul and Ash didn’t get along most of the time, but they parted ways with mutual respect. As he departed, Ash asked Paul for another fight someday, and that battle could be imminent with his entry into the tournament.
Although it is very annoying when Ash drops his strongest Pokemon, he usually does so for the greater good, for the Pokemon itself or some higher purpose. In Greninja’s case, Ash left behind his companion Kalos to clean up the ruins after Team Flare’s attempt at world domination along with Zygarde. As a Froakie, it will refuse to stay with beginner trainers who have chosen it as their starter Pokemon. Upon meeting Ash, it deems him worthy of its loyalty, and the two continue to form a bond that may not be the strongest Pikachu Ash has ever had with one of his Pokemon.
Ash’s Greninja has an unusual Ability, allowing it to increase in battle power as well as transform and take on a bit of Ash’s appearance. This ability is much more powerful than Mega Evolution, and Greninja even made it difficult for Champion Kalos’ Mega Gardevoir before Ash and Greninja lost consciousness due to the stress of the Ability. While Greninja will be a huge power in the World Coronation Chain, it doesn’t look like it will join Ash in a battle. Ash has stuck with his newly caught Pokemon in each of his WCS battles, meaning Greninja’s return could be just a brief reunion in the Kalos Region.
