Kodoani.com – Official website of the project Idol Bu Show posted a trailer for the project’s upcoming anime on Wednesday. The trailer reveals the movie’s June 24 release date.
The film will include an anime part and a live-action concert. The film will tell the project’s first origin story.
CG animator and director Shingo Kobayashi (2019 Attack on Titan CG Supervisor) is directing the film at ORENDA and Amineworks, with novelist Tetsuya Sano overseeing the project. Kotsukotsu (Aharen-san wa Hakarenai) is writing the script for the film.
The idea behind the project is a “battle royale” between three idol groups, each led by a Sengoku-era commander who has been reincarnated as a music producer. The winner of the battle royale will be determined by the number of sales and votes at each live performance. The winning group will hold an epic live performance to be named “the greatest under heaven.” The project launched in 2019 and has since released CD singles for various idol groups in the project, as well as organized events.
The first group is called “No Princess” and is led by Saitō Dōsan’s incarnation “Shigemichi Saitō.” Saitō Dōsan is known as Mino’s Viper and the father-in-law of Oda Nobunaga. The actual music production will be done by Shigeru Saitō, the music producer of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Sound! Euphonium, and other series.
The second group is called “Lunatic Eyes” and is led by Date Masamune’s reincarnation “Muneto Date.” Date is famous as a one-eyed warrior and lord of Sendai. The actual music production will be done by Akihiro Tomita, who is producing music for artists like Maon Kurosaki and ClariS.
The third group is called “X-UC” and is led by the reincarnation of Sanada Yukimura “Kōnosuke Sanada.” Sanada Yukimura is a famous warrior who is best known for defending Osaka Castle against the Tokugawa forces in 1614. The actual music production will be by Yōhei Kisara, a music producer on Love. Live! School Idol Project.
The fourth idol group is named “Fool’s End.” The group was key to the project’s background story, as the nationally popular idol duo’s breakup announcement was what led to the “Warring Idols” era, with idol groups competing to be their successor. Aoi Yūki and Ayana Taketatsu, who act as the mistress of the real-life idol group, voice the two members of Fool’s End, Shinobu Sakuma and Nagaho Mori, respectively.
The idol groups feature the talents of Sachika Misawa, Miho Okasaki, Nanaka Suwa, Moe Toyota, Yuki Nakashima, Erika Ishitobi and others. The visual and main character designs were drawn by The Price of Smiles and character designer Urawa no Usagi-chan NOB-C. Revue Starlight stage play and lyricist Kanata Nakamura is handling the idols’ story.
