The franchise's first film in 13 years will hit theaters in December
Kodoani.com – According to news from the anime series' website Gekijо̄-ban Nintama Rantaro Dokutake Ninja-tai Saikyо̄ no Gunshi (Nintama Rantaro the Movie: The Dokutake Ninja Team's Strongest Strategist), the first anime film in the Nintama Rantaro anime series in 13 years, began streaming teaser trailers for the film on Thursday. The teaser hints at Doi's disappearance and a new white-clad ninja enemy.
The film is expected to premiere in Japan in December. The film is based on the 2013 novel of the same name by Kazuhisa Sakaguchi, and revolves around Rantaro's teacher Hansuke Doi losing his match against Sonnamon and Zatto Konnamon becoming a teacher at the Academy. Ninjutsu.
Returning cast members include Minami Takayama as Rantarō, Mayumi Tanaka as Kirimaru, Teiyū Ichiryūsai as Shinbei Fukutomi and Toshihiko Seki as Hansuke Doi.
Masaya Fujimori returns from the previous film to direct the new film at Ajia-do, the same studio as the long-running series. Original novel author Sakaguchi is writing the script.
The previous film of the Gekijō-ban Anime series Nintama Rantaro Ninjutsu Gakuen Zenin Shutsudō! launched in March 2011.
It is the 31st film in the Nintama Rantaro anime series, with the 32nd film having debuted earlier this month.
The original ninja gag manga Rakudai Ninja Rantarō by Soubee Amako revolves around Rantarō, a ninja apprentice at an elite ninjutsu academy in historical Japan. As an elementary school student, Rantarō and his fellow ninja trainees were called “Nintama” – short for the words “ninja” and “tamago” (“egg”).
The manga adapted the anime series Nintama Rantaro in 1993, and NHK-E is still airing the 10-minute anime every weekday. The manga has also been adapted into two anime films and two live-action films. Takashi Miike is the director of the first live-action film.
