Nintendo claims to set $70 game price on ‘case-by-case basis’

Nintendo’s upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom game costs $70

Kodoani.com – Video game news website Game Informer reported last Wednesday that Nintendo commented on the $70 price tag for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, saying: “We determine the suggested retail price for any Nintendo product on a case-by-case basis. can..” When asked if the $70 price tag would be the trend for future Nintendo titles, the company reiterated: “No. We determine a suggested retail price for any product. any Nintendo on a case-by-case basis.”

Nintendo is the latest company to price its new game at $70 after Sony, Ubisoft and Electronic Arts. The standard game price is US$60.

Nintendo revealed a new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom during its Nintendo Direct presentation last Wednesday.

The game will launch on Switch on May 12. Nintendo describes the game:

An epic adventure through the land and sky of Hyrule awaits in The Legend of Zelda™: Tears of the Kingdom for Nintendo Switch™. The adventure is yours to create in a world driven by your imagination.

In the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you will decide your own path through the vast landscapes of Hyrule and mysterious islands floating in the vast sky above. Can you harness the power of Link’s new abilities to fight the evil forces threatening the kingdom?

The previous game sequel was delayed from 2022 to spring 2023 to extend development time.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild launched for Switch and Nintendo Wii U in March 2017. The game won Game of the Year at the 35th Golden Joystick Awards in November 2017, winning Game of the Year. at The Game Awards 2017 in December 2017 and won Game of the Year at the SXSW Gaming Awards in March 2018.
