Kodoani.com – Nintendo posted an announcement on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, confirming the existence of unofficial online services for the system. Nintendo Wii U and advises players to be wary because these services may pose potential security risks. This warning comes after Nintendo ended the online functions of the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS in April 2024, and closed the eShop of both platforms in March 2024.
Wii U, launched in 2012, did not achieve the same commercial success as other Nintendo systems. In particular, Wii U's sales are completely inferior to its successor, the Nintendo Switch. Wii U production stopped in 2017, paving the way for the Switch's dominance. Launched in March 2017, the Switch has become a huge success for Nintendo, with 141.32 million units sold as of May 2024.
In other notable news, Nintendo just announced the system Switch 2 on Thursday. According to the initial trailer, the Switch 2 will have a physically larger design and feature an improved stand with more flexible adjustment angles.
