NRG’s acquisition of CLG has made the gaming community worry about the fate of GAM Esports in recent days. What’s the truth?
Riot Games strictly forbids teams from the same organization to compete, leading to result settlement. In the past, this situation has happened, which is when Samsung White and Samsung Blue dominated the Worlds lineup, this is one of the reasons why Riot issued a law banning “sister” teams. That’s why fans can’t help but worry when NRG Esports has an organization related to GAM Esports in the top tournament of LoL in Vietnam.

In fact, NRG is not the owner of GAM Esports in Vietnam. The black and yellow jersey army is actually owned by NRG Asia – the eSports Management and Communication platform that also represents the potential esports athletes of Southeast Asia. Notably, NRG Asia is an organization established by CMG Asia and NRG Esports. This is information that has been confirmed by GAM since 2021.
In addition, currently on the homepage of NRG Asia, there are 3 leaders announced by the organization: Randy Dobson, TK Nguyen and Dru Nguyen. Personnel from NRG Esports such as Andy Miller and Mark Mastrov are only advisors to this organization.

Theoretically, NRG Esports and GAM Esports do not belong to the same organization, so it is highly likely that GAM Esports will not be sold by the owner to another organization, at least for the time being. Besides, because this is Riot Games’ playground, the company can still amend its rules and make it difficult for organizations like NRG Esports in the process of returning to the professional League of Legends arena.
