Summary
Naruto’s Baryon Mode and Luffy’s Gear 5 are both powerful transformations, but Baryon Mode provides a significant power increase, surpassing Luffy’s abilities. Luffy’s Gear Fifth increases his durability and allows him to control his surroundings, but he is still vulnerable to slashing attacks, which Naruto’s Rasenshuriken can do. While Luffy’s Gear 5 may be stronger in the future, Baryon Mode currently surpasses it in strength and speed. Naruto has the advantage in this match.
Incredibly powerful in their respective universes, it’s natural for fans to wonder how NarutoIts Baryon mode stacks with A pieceMonkey D. Luffy and his Gear 5 abilities. Since the days of Super Saiyan and Sailor Moon, transformations and power-ups have been a staple of shounen manga, but who among these modern greats deserves to take the crown?
Luffy’s Gear Fifth debuted in One Piece chapter #1044. This chapter reveals that Luffy’s Devil Fruit is a mythical Zoan-type fruit called Hito Hito no Mi: Model Nika. The power of this devil fruit is said to be the most ridiculous in the world, limited only by the user’s imagination. In contrast, Naruto’s Baryon Mode, which first appeared in Boruto chapter #51, is a transformation rooted in the application of more grounded scientific principles. In a process similar to nuclear fusion, Naruto sacrifices his and Kurama’s chakra as raw materials used to create new energy. Both Gear Fifth and Baryon Modes also place significant strain on the user, risking their lifespan to prolong the transformation.
Naruto’s Byron Mode will defeat Luffy’s Gear 5
In terms of the actual transformations themselves, Baryon Mode provides a significant increase in power at the cost of even greater risk to the user. Before taking on Baryon Mode, the planet-eating alien Isshiki seemed untouchable, but after that, Naruto clearly overcame the power gap between them. However, this power only lasts for a short time, and even with his ridiculous stamina, Naruto can only hold out for a few minutes at most.
Gear Fifth is a more interesting case when it comes to determining what this form is capable of. While Luffy is significantly stronger in Gear 5 thanks to his ability to control his body at will, Gear Fifth really shines in its increased durability. Luffy is capable of fending off Kaido’s most powerful attacks simply by moving around them and is also capable of manipulating his surroundings with a similar level of durability. However, as Kaido pointed out, Luffy is still vulnerable to slashing attacks, which is what Naruto’s Rasenshuriken is capable of providing in countless micro-level attacks.
Even with Luffy’s increased durability, Baryon Mode still comes with an extremely powerful form of durability nullification that is the ability to strip his opponent’s lifespan with a single contact. However, this happens when Naruto comes into contact with his opponent’s chakra, which means that Luffy (who doesn’t have a chakra system) may be immune, but the energy drain could very well affect his Haki and his vitality.
Luffy’s Gear 5 form may be stronger than Naruto in the future
An important factor in deciding who will win between Gear 5 and Baryon Mode is that Luffy’s new form may grow even more powerful as One Piece nears its conclusion. Creator Eiichiro Oda has stated that the current arc of the manga serves as the first part of the final story, meaning fans will see how powerful Luffy became at his peak before One Piece ends. With the Egghead Island arc providing many worthy opponents to fight with Gear 5, the form’s arsenal of abilities and powers continues to grow.
Luffy is certainly not lacking in strength, as he overcomes Doflamingo’s ropes, which could stop a meteor from landing, and overcomes Kaido, who happens to hold an island-sized fortress. However, Naruto could scale much higher as he should be stronger than the perfect Susanoo, who split an entire mountain range, and Kaguya, who threatened to destroy an entire planet in her dimension. Both fighters demonstrated the ability to move at relative speeds, with Naruto and Luffy both dodging light-based attacks. While Luffy has the advantage due to his ability to see into the future, Naruto is used to fighting opponents with similar abilities, such as the Sharingan.
One Piece is a complicated series to measure power achievements because of its odd and sometimes inconsistent power sharing. Some of the series’ strongest characters have fought for days on end, something most Naruto characters likely wouldn’t be able to do. However, Luffy’s strongest attack saw him create an armored fist the size of a mountain at the end of the Wano arc. Gear 5’s Bajrang Gun attack hit Kaido’s giant dragon form so hard that he was sent flying from the sky and through the layers of Wano’s earth until it hit the underground lava lakes .
Naruto can defeat Gear 5 without Baryon mode
The immense amount of power that Baryon Mode gives Naruto will likely be more than enough to stop Luffy’s greatest attacks. Preventing and destroying meteors is something Naruto is able to do at the end of Naruto Shippuden, even before using the sacrificial Baryon transformation. During his Baryon mode battle against Isshiki Ōtsutsuki, Naruto was able to lift and throw Isshiki’s extremely heavy Break Block. When Boruto tried to break a cube with his strongest attack, he couldn’t even scratch it.
In fact, Naruto surpassed Luffy in every important stat in this fight, except for stamina. If Luffy wants to stand a chance, he must prolong the fight as much as possible until Kurama and Naruto burn off all their chakra to maintain their Baryon State, causing one of them to die. The transformation cannot be done again, leaving Naruto in a less powerful state. However, Luffy’s abilities are also easily depleted after high-level battles, so any victory will depend on creating a hard-to-reach sweet spot. Without that, Naruto would have won twice as much in every other category if Luffy’s lifespan reduction ability had remained intact.
Like many battles in anime, the strongest warrior does not always win. In some special cases, Luffy’s Gear 5 is capable of defeating Naruto’s Baryon Mode. Ultimately, though, Baryon Mode is more powerful and faster than what fans have seen of the Gear 5 so far. While both Gear 5 and Baryon Mode are iconic transformations, it seems luffy there’s still a way to go before he passes Naruto. However, A piece It’s still far from over and readers can look forward to seeing the future Pirate King become even stronger as the series ends.
