Jun Endō’s Pon no Michi: Ryūkyoku Shānyū-hen manga launches on Monday
Kodoani.com – Kodansha’s YanMaga website has just launched a new manga titled “Pon no Michi: Ryūkyoku Shānyū-hen” (The Way of Pon: Ryūkyoku Shānyū Arc), a spinoff of the popular mahjong anime series Pon no Michi. The spinoff was posted on Monday on the site.
The image’s caption said: “Official ‘unauthorized’ extravaganza of the Pon no Michi anime!”
The anime is about five high school girls living in a mahjong shop in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. Jun Endō’s spin-off manga depicts a different perspective:
“This is NOT the ‘What If’ story of high school girls 10 years later. The title and characters are the same, but it’s different! So please forgive me! An unofficial spin-off tells about the situation of adults starting.”
Tsukasa Unohana (Anima Yell!) also adapted the manga from the anime, which was published in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine on September 1. The manga’s compilation volume will be released on January 12.
The anime Pon no Michi has been airing since January 5 in the “Animeism” programming block on TBS, MBS, and BS-TBS. Below is the list of main voice actors:
