Official website of Otakon announced the COVID-19 policy for this year’s event on Friday. The policy says that masks and proof of immunization are no longer required for event attendees in accordance with “local and federal guidelines”.
Conference staff still recommend that attendees wear masks indoors, practice proper hand hygiene, and get vaccinated and booster shots if possible.
Otakon 2023 is scheduled to take place July 28-30 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC The convention will host manga artist Kyoko Aiba at this year’s event.
Last year’s event took place on July 29-31, 2022.
Otakon is an annual three-day anime convention held in July or August. It stands for the Otaku Convention. From 1999 to 2016, it took place at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland’s Inner Harbor district; in 2017, it moved to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC
