The Philippine E-Sports Organization intends to host the 3 biggest Esports tournaments of 3 games Dota 2, Mobile Legends and Valorant to affirm the position of this country.
The Philippine E-Sports Organization (PESO) is the national governing body for e-sports in the Philippines, and a member of the International E-Sports Federation since 2012 and the Philippine Olympic Committee since 2020. Over the years, the Philippines is one of the countries with the strongest Esports background in Southeast Asia.
During the latest press conference attended by leading Philippine Esports organizations, Marlon Marcelo, CEO of PESO stated:
“We are an Esports nation. Sooner or later, we will have to promote Esports in this country: Mobile Legends World Championship, VALORANT Master and The International – those are the dreams we aspire to be. reality. PeSO will definitely make efforts to host these three tournaments.”
Esports will definitely be the focus sport of the Philippines at the 2033 SEA Games, the Southeast Asian Games that they will be the host country for. Mr. Marcelo expressed pride, but still insisted this is the story of the future: “We are very excited, but that is the story of 10 years later.”
The Philippines has hosted many major Esports events such as ESL One Manila, Manila Major in 2016, The Manila Masters 2017 for DotA 2, and MLBB Southeast Asia Cup 2019 for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang .
Not stopping there, PESO still wants to aim for the biggest tournaments of the year, they are working with game publishers to organize popular events. Currently, PESO has a pretty good relationship with Riot and Moontoon.
Philippine Esports teams have achieved many remarkable achievements over the years. They are also the country that owns the most Esports gold medals through the SEA Games.
