Durango IP is known for its original title with Durango Wild Lands, the popular game that was unfortunately killed off in 2019, now back as Project DX.
Project DX is an MMORPG with the same production, crafting, and survival elements as its predecessor. Recently, a brief introduction to the game by Nexon also reflects the features in the game. Previously, according to many sources, a game based on Durango in August 2021 and now is finally officially revealed after nearly 1.5 years.
In a video released by Nexon Korea, the game executives introduced the world of Durango back, although very few details about the game at the moment. But you can rest assured that this new game has many similarities with Durango Wild Lands. Project DX was introduced as a multiplayer role-playing game. Nat Games, a subsidiary of Nexon, is a collection under the DX studio. This team brings together former employees who worked on games like V4, Overhit and HIT. They continue to work on the Project DX product.
Nat Games games can overcome the mistakes that Wild Lands once encountered to improve the quality of Project DX games in the future. Nexon said the games that exceeded expectations the most in the quarter were Mabinogi and Hit 2, mobile games launched in Korea in August 2022. MapleStory’s revenue is still up 47% year-over-year in South Korea and close to a record in the third quarter, while FIFA Online 4 also posted record revenue for the quarter.
Recently, Nexon reported third quarter game revenue showing revenue growth even as Dungeon & Fighter and Maplestory fell short of their prospects. The highlight of the report announced net sales of $666 million, up 28% year-on-year. While Nexon recorded hit franchises like MapleStory and Dungeon & Fighter with weak growth, the company said that the mobile version in key Korean market appeared to slow down in the past quarter.
The product is expected to open in 2023 in the Korean market and then expand abroad. Android and iOS gamers can freely experience this game.
