Rainbow Six Siege multiplayer team shooter is free to play for a limited time
Kodoani.com – Rainbow Six Siege is the first multiplayer-focused game in the series, and some consider it one of the best modern multiplayer shooters. While the release of Rainbow Six Extraction in January means it’s no longer the newest game, it’s still going strong seven years on from its release.
However, publisher Ubisoft is not yet ready to stop at the top as Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is concerned and hopes to attract some new players with the new event. To do this, Ubisoft announced that Rainbow Six Siege is free to play this week.
Players can download and play Rainbow Six Siege for free starting today, March 17th through March 24th. The event includes all maps and operators added via DLC content. and Season Pass. Players who want to continue playing after the free period ends can also purchase the game for 70% off, or about $9.99. It’s also a great time to pick up games, with the new season of Rainbow Six Siege kicking off in a few weeks. Unfortunately, this deal is only available to PC, PlayStation, and Stadia users, although Rainbow Six Siege is free for Xbox Game Pass subscribers.
One might think it’s a bit strange that Ubisoft pushed Siege shortly after Extraction, which launched on January 20. The newer game is a spin-off that sees players leading Rainbow Six operatives on missions. team up to save the world from parasitic aliens known as Archæans. The game derives from the popular “Outbreak” event from Rainbow Six Siege and brings elements of survival horror into the tactical multiplayer FPS. Extraction also introduces procedurally generated levels and standard Extraction where players must rescue their teammates from an alien hive.
Unfortunately for Ubisoft, Rainbow Six Extraction has yet to witness the massive success of its predecessor. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean Rainbow Six Extraction is certain to flop, as Rainbow Six Siege also saw mixed reception upon release. Both games have similar scores on Metacritic, with the PC version of Siege at 79% compared to Extraction’s 71%. Rainbow Six Siege also benefited from six years of post-launch content, which contributed significantly to the older game’s popularity.
Rainbow Six Siege’s content includes a host of new differences, maps, and weapons that were not included in the initial release. Other season-passing content includes changes, updates, and rebalancing to existing maps and gameplay mechanics. New content is also one of the main reasons why so many people rate Rainbow Six Siege so highly, with major publications revising their reviews to reflect updated content. Players can try it for free through March 24.
