Season 1 of Netflix’s Ragnarok Record has an important flaw regarding how and why fans have to support Valkyrie’s worst warrior.
Kodoani.com – One of the most exciting aspects of Netflix’s hit anime series, Record of Ragnarok, is the suspicion planted in Brunhilde’s mission. Valkyrie gathers 13 of the best warriors of mankind in history to fight different gods. The first of seven victories will decide the fate of Earth, with the gods wanting to destroy the planet and the Valkyrie’s forces hoping to save it.
However, even Valkyrie admits her legion of warriors won’t be as strong as creatures from different cultures — including the likes of Zeus and Poseidon, and, in Season 2, the destroyers. Kill the Hindus in Shiva and Jack the Ripper. That said, Brunhilde was secretly giving her warriors god-killing weapons, leveling the battlefield. That said, the Record of Ragnarok made a big mistake with arguably humanity’s greatest warrior, Lü Bu, leaving the character a bit lacking.
The pilgrim past
Valkyrie chose Lü Bu or Lu Bu in her first match with Thor, because she wanted to make an immediate impact. She imbued Randgriz’s spirit into his halberd and dispatched him against the God of Thunder, honoring the Chinese hero as the best. The problem is, Ragnarok failed to showcase Lü Bu’s exploits and really set him apart as a mighty force. Instead, it focuses on him in battle, leaving Chen Gong and the other armies that fought against him – or associated with him – as spectators.
At least one episode could show Lü Bu taking down more enemies, why the legions are on his side, and how he made the world fear China. This would explain why he needed to switch to using the sky eater that could cut through mountains, to display it. Sadly, all fans see are the clouds being split in half, instead of killing every enemy in battle. The ramifications of the technique did not even occur during the battle with Thor. If all of this is shown before then, fans will feel as confident as Brunhilde in supporting the warrior — and also feel the pain of loss when he is killed.
Record of Ragnarok kills Lü Bu .’s motivation
We now provide more details about Adam and why the first man hated Satan in the Garden of Eden. History also took a closer look at the clumsy Kojiro Sasaki and how he struggled to improve his skills in Season 1. But they weren’t the starters, nor did they have the same respectable reputation as Lü Bu. This would set a better tone, explaining Lü Bu’s code, his honor and why he wanted to help Brunhilde – a direction that worked in the Vinland Saga for Thorfinn.
Instead, Lü Bu’s revenge isn’t emotional, personal or intimate, as fans don’t even know if he’s up for the ego challenge. His increased engagement – perhaps even showing mercy – would change this and better explain the bond with his steed, Red Rabbit. The horse helped him fight Thor, and died trying to get revenge.
The same thing happens when Chen Gong and his army turn against Thor, but again, this unbridled loyalty is not fully explained. Hopefully, Record of Ragnarok Season 2 does not repeat this mistake.
